Specialist in 20th-century decorative arts and design, Harold Mollet works as an independent consultant for decorators, brands and private collectors.
After studying art history, he joined the Yves Gastou gallery in 2012. Working alongside this renowned Parisian gallery owner and his son Victor, he honed his eye and knowledge of 20th-century furniture, discovering the beautiful lines of 1940s designers such as André Arbus and Gilbert Poillerat, and the strength and vivacity of 1970s materials such as Pierre Sabatier's decorative panels.
Yves Gastou, also known for having been one of the first to present the Italian and English avant-gardes in Paris, notably in the 1980s, passes on his taste for the object and the unexpected. In parallel with his work with the gallery's international collectors and decorators, Harold Mollet inventoried Yves Gastou's personal ring collection, then took part in the creation and writing of the book “Bagues d'Homme” (Collection Yves Gastou) published by Editions Albin Michel with Delphine Antoine, an adventure as grandiose as it was intimate. The diversity and eclecticism of the collector's taste was on display when the book was released at the École des Arts Joailliers in Paris in 2018.
Harold Mollet then pursued freelance consultancy missions in Europe and the United States. Maintaining this cross-disciplinary spirit of styles and eras, he works on commissioned projects, such as a Maximilien Pellet's unique mural for a New York apartment. He also offers a selection of pieces chosen for their histories and aesthetics, their strengths and presences. He currently works with collectors to decorate projects in Paris and Los Angeles, and advises haute-couture brands on acquisitions. Building up a varied collection over the years, he exhibits some of these pieces by invitation at gallery shows and fairs, such as Art-O-Rama in 2023 at the initiative of Marion Mailaender, or on specific projects such as the decoration of the collector's suite by Gilbert Kann, which opened in 2024. Harold Mollet has also been interested in German design for a number of years, and is preparing an exhibition on a figure from the “Konstruktive Tendenzen” movement.
